Agios Petros beach Andros

The beach at of Agios Petros is located on the western side of Andros between the main port at Gavrio and the main beach resort at Batsi.
Agios Petros is a long beach of sharp sand, backed by low dunes and scrub, and bordered by the main road between the two resorts.
A road inland leads up to the inland village of the same name where an ancient tower stands overlooking the coast and said to date from the 4th century BC.
The beach at Agios Petros is exposed, with little in the way of natural shade although sunbeds and brollies are put out in the summer.
There is ample off-road parking in the scrubland and the main road is far enough away not to be a nuisance. A small stream bisects the beach.
Agios Petros is a pleasant enough get-away spot for those who don't like the crowds at nearby Batsi but the long flat beach can feel rather desolate and there are few facilities here until the high summer.
