SIDARI is one of the most popular tourist resorts on the island and is located on the north coast near the equally popular resort of Roda.
Sidari village developed from a small fishing port, most notably in the 1980s when it underwent massive hotel and apartment development.
Each year it has grown bigger with the building of more Sidari hotels, apartments and studios and it now offers tourist accommodation for more than 17,000 visitors annually making it one of the most crowded resorts on Corfu.
Some years ago Sidari village merged with the neighbouring Canal d'Amour, which lies just to the west of the resort. Canal d'Amour is famous for its striking sandstone rock formations, sculpted by both wind and waves, and for its pleasant beaches.
Sidari has three main beaches - all of which offer plenty of watersports such as water skiing, banana boat rides, paragliding, parasailing along with speedboat hire, pedal-boat hire, and scuba diving.
The best swimming spots in Sidari can be found at Apotripiti, in Melitsa, the Canal d'Amour, and Sunset or Logos beach at Peroulades. Other Sidari beaches are found near the harbour to the east.
Sidari has become a tourist hotspot with scores of restaurants, bars, cafes and trinket shops to feed the annual influx of tourists, mostly Brits. Nightclubs and karaoke bars compete to attract attention with loud music and video screens.
Sidari village and beach resort is on the north coast, about 45km from Corfu Town and the airport so you need to allow up to an hour to reach it.
There is a regular bus service both east and west of Sidari and there are plenty of taxis.
