The beach at Faliraki Rhodes is about 14km from Rhodes Town, is 5km long and one of the most developed beaches on the island if not the whole of Greece. It is basically one big funfair on the sands and a big draw for youngsters out for a good time, preferably a noisy good time.
By day the beach is packed with holidaymakers and at night the narrow village streets throb to the pulse of disco, lit by garish neon and heaving with teenagers on the prowl for sex, drink or drugs - usually all three and at pretty much the same time. Some bad publicity after a series of rapes forced tour guides to tone down the bar crawling nights but this is still not a place to be alone and female at night.
The beach is hard flat sand that is virtually covered end to end by sun beds and blue and striped umbrellas. The water is shallow at the shoreline and there are showers and toilets. There is no shortage of bars and tavernas along the back of the beach though its basically burgers and chips.
Water sports run the full gamut, from banana rides to parasailing and there is even bungee jumping and sky surfing for the young daredevils.
The nearby Faliraki Water Park now boasts being the biggest in Europe and its packed with water slides, a massive wave pool, aqua gym and more with a special area for children.
