Kamari Kos

Visitors to KAMARI can be disappointed at the 5km beach at Kamari as it is mostly shingle at the harbour end near to the resort of Kefalos, but sand predominates as you move further east. The best bits of sand are at the Agios Stefanos end of the beach and almost wholly commandeered by the Club Med complex but there are other good stretches and the beach is so long that it never seems to get too crowded.
The beach gently shelves along the shoreline so its very safe for children though a bit more dangerous further out where windsurfers and boats proliferate in the bay.
Kamari beach is used mostly by holidaymakers staying at Kefalos on the hillside inland and it lies is about 40km from Kos Town near the western tip of the island. It is backed by the rugged volcanic landscape of the area. There are any number of bars and tavernas backing the beach.
