LAMBI or LAMPI stretches out of Kos Town north of the harbour to the the northern tip of the island and around the headland. The deep sands along the western facing shore are packed with sun beds for more than 1km, with hotels, tavernas and bars backing the beach.
Lambi beach is a favourite with families with soft sand shelving gently into the sea, so it's safe for the youngsters. There are also plenty of the fun watersports that you come to associate with a big popular, holiday destinations - water skiing, paragliding, surfing and so on.
If you are looking for a quiet stretch of sands don't bother looking here. Back-to-back hotels ensure every scrap of sand has organised activities od some sort. Access to the beach is easy with plenty of buses and taxis along the busy main road that backs the beach and there are also cycle lanes for those that enjoy getting fit on holiday.
There is more beach to be found around the headland and along the north coast although, like all northern beaches, it can get windy and the waves can get choppy.
Lambi is a fine resort for those that enjoy hotel holiday resorts with plenty going on, and there is more to be found in Kos Town itself, only a short taxi ride away with plenty of nightlife. If you don't like crowds and karaoke, chips with everything, and clubbing until the early hours you are better off heading west.
