MARMARIS or MARMARI Kos lies along the north coast of the island, about 15km from Kos Town and walkable from neighbouring holiday beach at Tingaki.
The long and flat Marmaris beach is mostly sand, with a few stones dotted here and there. Marmaris beach is gently shelving along the shoreline so it is fine for families with children, although seaweed can be a problem all along this part of the Kos coast.
Blocks of tavernas stand at the back of Marmaris beach and staff at those tavernas and cafes that offer sunbeds have a reputation for cleaning the beach each day, raking the sand and clearing up any litter that has been left by holidaymakers.
Wind can be a problem on the north-facing Marmaris beach and seas can get choppy sometimes with big breakers on the windiest days but these are relatively infrequent.
Just inland from Marmaris, about 5km for the shore, is the attractive village of Pyli, with more tavernas and cafes to enjoy and many holidaymakers enjoy a visit.
There are frequent buses to Marmaris beach from Kos Town and boat moorings can be found in the small port.
