LYGIA Lefkas is a small fishing village found on the east coast of Lefkas and located just 5km to the south of Lefkas Town. The focus of the village is the long harbour where much of Lefkas island's fresh fish arrives each morning.
Lygia village is little more than a single street with a few tavernas and picturesque houses scattered along it, most of them built in traditional local stone.
Lygia has several cafes and bars and also two minimarkets, a bakery and two petrol stations, so the shops are pretty umpressive given its small size, although most of them are closed outside the summer season.
Lygia is a very quiet and relaxing place to stay. There are some good fish tavernas along Lygia harbour front, with views across to mainland Greece.
There is a shortish pebble and sand beach to the north of the quay with a narrow shoreline. To the north is a longer pebble and sand beach backed by fields and some apartments. Lygia beach is pleasant enough and well sheltered but it can feel rather exposed and with little natural shade.
There are good walks to be had in the hills surrounding Lygia and a strip of narrow beaches and small coves lie to the south if you care to venture around the headland.
The area surrounding Lygia is very beautiful, with many fine walks through cypress forest and olive groves.
