Skala Sikaminia Lesvos

SKALA SIKAMINIA is a pretty little fishing harbour found on the north coast of Lesvos a few kilometres along the unmade beach road from Eftalou.
The harbour at Skala Sikaminia is lined with attractive tavernas and charming cafes, making this a fine place to visit for a leisurely lunch.
On a small rock overlooking the Skala Sikaminia harbour is the tiny and much photographed church of Panayia Gorgona - The Virgin Mary Mermaid.
If you walk along the little beach behind the village square you should find a path that runs up through some olive groves and then down the hillside to small beaches coves on the other side of the headland.
Many visitors arrive in Skala Sikaminia on boat trips from Molyvos. Day trips run most days during the high summer season and also take in the beach at Tsonia.
To the west of Skala Sikaminia is the attractive resort of Eftalou, now full of modern hotel complexes. Behind are the mountain slopes of Mt Lepetymnos, the highest mountain on the island of Lesvos.
