Agia Anna (west) beach Mykonos

AGIA ANNA is a small, but popular beach, with a traditional fish taverna and a decent restaurant located on the south coast and lying to the south of Mykonos Town.
Both west-facing and with hills behind and to the north, Agia Anna is a very well sheltered from the northerly meltemi winds that blow strongly in high summer.
Don't confuse the beach with one of the same name to the east near Kalafatis. This Agia Anna beach is the one is near the resorts of Paraga and Platis Yialos.
Agia Anna has a deep beach of sharp sand that shelves quite steeply into the sea. Offshore there are some large rock slabs and quite a bit of offshore seaweed. so Agia Anna is not a particularly good family beach.
Bamboo wattle fencing has been erected behind the beach for some added protection against the wind and there are rows of sunbeds and umbrellas available for rent at the northern end of the beach, where the small red-roofed chapel sits.
The south end of Agia Anna beach has a small car park and a jetty for the boats to pull in. Just beyond the jetty is a footpath that leads up over the headland and down into the big beach resort of Platis Yialos.
If you head to the south along one of several well-marked dirt tracks you can also reach the popular Paraga beach, which is just five minutes away on foot.
