Super Paradise Mykonos

A lack of large hotels and a non existent bus service has made Super Paradise beach a tad more exclusive than its brasher neighbour Paradise beach. It may be super to some, but don't expect a quiet time here. Disco is blasted across the sands from mega speakers and beach parties rock well into the night. Its relative isolation has made it a favourite for gays and full nudity is tolerated despite the large crowds that have now grown up.
The beach lies on the south coast just east of Paradise and is set in a beautiful deep cove surrounded by rock cliffs. You need a car or taxi to get here or their are regular taxi boats from Platis Yialos. Access off the main road is down steep tracks and there is parking at the tavernas.
The sand is soft with pebbles and the water shallow for good swimming. Sun beds form serried ranks along the shore and there are showers, a mini markets, souvenir shops, tavernas and several howlingly noisy beach bars to pump out the decibels all day and sometimes all night.
Steep cliffs on each side add interest and hills behind, not to say a long bamboo fence give protection when the northerly meltemi blows. The surrounding hills are dotted with apartment and villas but large hotel development has yet to make its mark.
Gays drift to the western end of the beach where there are rocks and a pool bar. The party atmosphere picks up in the late afternoon and bars wind up the music. Beach parties have a reputation for being the best in Greece, if you enjoy that sort of thing, and attract both Greeks and foreigners.
