Kalafatis beach Mykonos

KALAFATIS or KALAFATI beach is noted for its windsurfing, where offshore breezes over the long, sweeping bay create ideal conditions for windsurfers. It's the last but one of the beaches that necklace along the south coast of Mykonos.
Kalafatis is very much a family beach of white sand that stretches north east from a rocky, kidney shaped headland.
Kalafatis beach, also known as Tsarna, is a long swathe of shingle sand that, remarkable for Mykonos, enjoys plenty of natural shade from the trees that run right along the back of the beach for 500m or so.
As well as a large and popular windsurfing centre there are other watersports at Kalafatis beach such as jet skiing and a diving school. There are often both organised and impromptu windsurfing competitions held offshore.
Kalafatis has plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas on offer. A beach taverna provides the basics and there is a fish taverna at the eastern end of the beach.
Nearby on the main road are a minimarkets, a large taverna and a pizza restaurant. Access to Kalafatis beach is easy with a road running the whole length of the beach with plenty of parking spaces all the way along it. There is also a daily bus service from Mykonos Town.
On the headland at Kalafatis is a small harbour where you can get boat excursions to nearby islets such as Dragonissi.
