Paraga beach Mykonos

Nestled between Platis Yialos and Paradise Beach, PARAGA or PARANGA beach is one of the smaller beaches on Mykonos and one of the most popular.
Originally notorious in the sixties, and one of the first in the chain of south coast beaches to tolerate nudity, Paraga beach is now more cosmopolitan in flavour.
It's a favourite of Greeks and Italians who pack the sun beds that line the beach, especially those placed in front of the beach bar where the music is at its loudest.
Paraga beach is set within a deep bay with finger of rock pointing into the sea each side. It has the rare advantage of natural shade with a row of trees at the back of the beach, which is good sand mixed with a few pebbles. A bamboo fence also offers some protection when the north wind blows.
The sand at Paraga beach shelves gently into the sea making it child friendly and good for swimming. The east side of the beach has large, smooth rocks and rock pools to add interest and there is a rock formation a few metres from the shore where young men can show off their diving skills.
There are a couple of restaurants at Paraga, a beach bar and a poll bar nearby. A campsite extends from the pool bar along the headland and there are small hotels and apartments dotted around the back of the beach.
Several footpaths lead off Paraga beach leading both to Platis Yialos and to Paradise beach. There is public transport to Platis Yialos or direct to the beach in the high summer and regular water taxis and caiques from Platys Yialos and Ornos.
Driving is no problem and you can park for free at Paraga beach if you use the taverna or pay up at the larger car park on the western side of the beach.
