A steep road winds down the hillside to a taverna and car park at the south facing PSAROU which is found about 2km west of Platys Yialos and regarded as a bit more up-market than its near neighbour.
Psarou beach is about 5km from Mykonos Town. There is a regular bus service to nearby Platis Yialos from where you can walk quite easily to Psarou
You can either walk along the main road or follow a well-marked coastal path. A water taxi also leaves regularly from Ornos beach to Psarou beach.
Psarou was one of the first beaches to be developed on Mykonos but has been spared the dubious advantage of becoming one of Mykonos' party beaches.
It's still got a cosmopolitan air though and is surrounded by posh hotels and smart restaurants that include a sushi bar and even a Greek taverna!
Psarou beach is medium sized and narrow, with sunbeds and showers. The sunbeds are crammed in so you won't find many places to just lay down a towel.
In August Psarou beach can get so crowded that visitors count themselves lucky even to get a sunbed (and what posh sunbeds they are). Holidaymakers may have to queue to get the chance to lie on one.
The water at Psarou beach is shallow and calm so its fine for families. There is a variety of watersports at Psarou beach including a scuba diving school.
