Aliki Paros

The seaside village of ALYKI or ALIKI is located on the southern cost of Paros about 12km from the main port of Parikia.
The village name Alyki is derived from the Greek name for the salt pans that were a major feature of this area in ancient times.
Alyki is a very quiet and tranquil area of Paros, more isolated than most other seaside resorts on the island. The village has several hotels, apartments and rooms for rent, as well as a clutch of seafood tavernas and cafes along the sea front.
Alyki is a small village, with only around 500 permanent residents. It is located in a small sheltered cove, well protected from the northerly meltemi winds and has a small port for fishing boats and yachts.
There is a long sandy beach around the headland at Alyki and several small coves dotted along this part of the coast. Nearby beaches can be found at Agios Nikolaos, Platia Ammos, Makrya Myti Kladia, Voutakos and Farangas. Some of the beaches have summer cantinas and music bars.
Paros airport is just to the north of Alyki village and is used by Olympic Airways for daily flights from Athens. The runway is not long enough to take charter planes.
On the way to the airport is the interesting Skorpios Folklore Museum. The owner, Benetos Skiadas, has constructed many models of boats and ships of the past. The museum collection contains miniature sailing boats and fishing boats made by the artist Benetos Skiadas.
The Alyki museum also includes a Parian house, a blacksmith’s workshop, a traditional kafeneion, a windmill and a traditional weaving workshop. There are several other constructions exhibited in the garden of the museum, notably a model of the Monastery of Panagia Hozoviotissa of Amorgos.
