Alonissos island photo gallery by Lynne Adams
Alonissos is one of the Sporades chain of island off the east coast of mainland Greece. It is accessible by ferry from nearby Skiathos and less often from Evvia. The island has a tranquil charm, with most activity centred around the main port of Patitiri and the Chora village above. Beaches are few and most are stony but there is good walking to be had along the spine of the island with wonderful sea views. Head here for a laid back stress-free holiday.
Good: Quiet, relaxing with good walking trails. Bad: Poor beaches, few buses.
