Paxos and Antipaxos island photogallery by Lynne Adams

Paxi, also known as Paxos, is the smallest of the Ionian group of islands off the west coast of Greece. It's about 10km long and 4km wide with the west coast mainly composed of white chalk cliffs. There are many small villages and small beaches on the island and it is a popular place for day trippers from Corfu and the mainland. There are only three resorts of any size. The main resort is Gaios and there are others at Loggos and Lakkas which are much quieter. .
Paxos facts: Size: 40sq km. Population: 2,500 Season: July - September. Get there by ferry and and daily jetfoil from Kerkyra on Corfu and from mainland Parga and Igoumenitsa. High-speed ferries also arrive from Bari and Brindisi in Italy. A seaplane service operates from Corfu town.
