Symi Greece photo gallery by Nick Maslen

Much visited by tour ships, the Greek island of Symi has one of the most magnificent ports in the Aegean. It is a mountainous island with poor roads so good for hikers although it does get very hot in summer. Beaches are mainly stone.
SYMI QUICK FACTS: Size: 67sq km. Population: 2,500.
Season: May(24C) - Oct(23C) Getting there: No airport. Fly to Rhodes and get a ferry, about 3-4 hours. Also ferry connections to Mykonos, Syros, Tinos and Piraeus, near Athens.
Getting around: Symi mountainous with few roads. Buses run between Yialos and Pedi and there are a few taxis and water taxis to some beaches. Mopeds for hire.
Special interest: Monastery of Archangel Michael originally built in the 6th century.
