KIOTARI is, almost exclusively, a modern beach resort with no Greek commuunity there as such; just a clutch of large, luxury hotels, a few and tavernas and a large shopping centre.
Over the past few years Kiotari has become one of the more up-market resorts on Rhodes. Kiotari has become a resort aimed at well-heeled tourists looking for all-inclusive hotels offering private beach areas for guests.
Kiotari has dozens of bungalow and apartment complexes with swimming pools, children's pools, restaurants, bars, playgrounds, health spas, disco clubs and other facilities tourists come to expect at luxury hotels. If it is a taste of Greek life you are looking for then best to look elsewhere.
Nightlife on Kotari holiday centres mainly on in-hotel entertainment or a visit to a couple of beachside tavernas and bars.
Holidays in Kiotari tend to suit families and couples looking for an all-star all-inclusive all-in-hotel holiday.
Kiotari beach itself is not up to much. This part of Rhodes is a vast expanse of featureless coastline. Hard, flat sand at one end of Kiotari beach turns into shingle and stone at the other.
The stone dips steeply into the sea so Kiotari beach is not particularly good for families with children. A few sunbeds are scattered here and there if a beach cantina opens but mostly it is just an empty swathe of stone and pebble.
There are some watersports with windsurfing, parasailing, jet skis, waterskiing and banana boats all on offer near the hotels.
There are better beaches to be found nearby at Glystra and Lardos.
