Just south of Faliraki, located on the east coast and about 15km from Rhodes Town, is the small village of LADIKO or LADHIKO
Below the village is a small beach of fine sand and pebble, with some small rocks, set in a sheltered, horseshoe-shaped bay.
Ladiko has been by-passed by package tourist firms and the beach was little visited, even by the locals. But Ladiko has recently become a very popular, if small, holiday resort, especially favoured by Greeks and Italians.
Today, Ladiko is pretty well packed with tourist facilities and the sunbeds are now spread all around the shore and over the rocks.
There are no showers or toilets on Ladiko beach but there is a small taverna to supply the basics. There are steep cliffs all around so the beach tends to get a lot of shade in the afternoons.
Ladiko beach and the nearby cliffs were used for lots of location filming on the famous war movie 'The Guns of Navarone'. One of the film's stars, Anthony Quinn, bought a holiday home near here, earning Ladiko Bay the nickname Anthony 'Queen' Bay.
Ladiko beach is a popular port of call for caiques sailing from Rhodes Town out on tourist day trips and for boats ferrying tourists on Rhodes' round-island tours.
Another small sandy bay can be found just a few minutes walk to the south of Ladiko with a small taverna and a pleasant sand and pebble beach.
