Agia Paraskevi beach Samos

The road north from Samos heads inland after Gagou beach and over the hill range to the hamlet of Agia Paraskevi, about 9km from Samos Town.
The bay of AGIA PARASKEVI is regarded as one of the most beautiful places on Samos and the tiny village has a narrow and scruffy stretch of pebble with a small fishing harbour at the eastern end below a pine carpeted headland.
There are a couple of tavernas that tend to open when the owners feel like turning up but not much else to do. There are several villas to rent in the area and if you are looking for somewhere quiet and relaxing in a beautiful landscape you could do worse than Agia Paraskevi.
A wide swathe of concrete lines the shore and leads to the attractive Agia Paraskevi chapel set in shade beneath tamarisk trees. The beach is just a strip of pebble and shingle but the water is shallow and the snorkelling is ideal. Agia Paraskevi beach is north facing and so tends to gather rubbish over the winter.
There is another small strand of shingle to the west at ASPROCHORTI, found down a dirt track off the main road just before you reach Agia Paraskevi, but again there is no shade and there are no facilities.
A couple of good walking trails head south-west over the hills and into Vathy. Expect astonishing views and remarkably pleasant scenery here with the mixture of pine woods and low scrub that make an ideal habitat for the butterflies for which Samos is famous.
