Vassilias beach Skiathos

VASSILIAS or VASILIAS is a long and narrow sand beach that extends from the western end of Megali Ammos about 4km from Skiathos Town.
The eastern half of the beach, nearest Skiathos Town, has a better strip of sand and there is a small cantina here that opens in the summer.
A rocky outcrop at the western end of Megali Ammos beach marks the start of Vassilias and the ranks of sunbeds disappear the further down the beach you go.
There are still a few sun beds for hire and plenty of natural shade from the trees at the back of the beach. Further along the beach is a taverna and water sports club with several hotels dotted in the hills behind.
Like nearby Megali Amos, Vassilias sits below steep hills that protect both beaches from northerly winds and this is a pleasant place to head for to avoid the crowds.
The descent to the western end of the beach is very steep down a concreted track with a shady taverna halfway down.
This end of Vassilias is hardly a beach at all, just piles of rocks hugging the steep cliffs with the odd scrap of sand between. Bus stops 7 and 8 are closest to Vassilias beach.
