VROMOLIMNOS beach is 8km from Skiathos town and located on the west side of the Kalamaki peninsula about 1km from bus stop 13 and near the resort of Kolios in the west.
Vromolimnos is one of Skiathos' busier beaches, regarded as the one of most popular after Koukounaries.
It is particularly popular with youngsters, no doubt attracted by a brace of beach bars that blast out loud music most of the day and sometimes well into the night.
Vromolimnos is a very well organized beach with plenty of the usual tourist trappings such as sunbeds, watersports and beach volleyball. Vromolimnos is also noted for the good water skiing conditions, though I am not sure exactly what those could be, apart from lots of water.
The name Vromolimnos translates as "dirty lake" - nothing to do with the beach which is very clean, golden sand but a small, shallow and brackish lake covered in cane and reed that dries out to little more than a dust bowl in the summer.
A line of trees at the back of the beach provides natural shade and wooded hills either side make Vromolimnos a very sheltered spot.
Vromolimnos beach faces south-west, giving a nightly display of splendid summer sunsets and, sitting on the west side of the Kalamaki peninsula, it is out of the prevailing north-east breeze.
For some peace and quiet you can walk to either end of the beach as the noise is mainly confined to the central area.
If you can't stand the music throb any longer there are daily water taxis to Skiathos Town and to other beaches along the coast.
