Agios Sostis beach Zante

AGIOS SOSTIS is a pleasant beach resort that has of late started to take some of the overspill from neighbouring Laganas which lies just 2km way along the south coast of Zante.
Agios Sostis is a very pleasant, scenic beach resort located on a flat part of the coast with mountains forming an impressive backdrop inland.
It has a small and attractive port with a west facing beach and the tiny islet of Agios Sostis offshore around the headland to the south, from which the resort has taken its name and which is linked to Zante island by a picturesque wooden bridge.
The beach at Agios Sostis is rather narrow but it is very sandy and has all the facilities of a larger resort, such as watersports, boats for hire, excursion to nearby islets such as Marathonisi (Turtle Island) and to sea caves, as well as the usual sunbeds and umbrellas. The water is shallow and good for families with children.
Tavernas are generally good and many overlook the beach and picturesque harbour. Some host Greek nights for trippers from Laganas with plenty of music and dancing.
Tour operators sell Agios Sostis as little more lively than it is. Nightlife is confined to waterfront beach bars and there are a few tourist shops but the proximity of Laganas has curbed downmarket tourist development.
Agios Sostis is about 11km from Zakynthos Town and only about 7km from the airport. It's not a bad place to stay for those that like the nightlife of Laganas but prefer a quieter beach during the day.
There are daily buses from Agios Sostis to Zakynthos Town and it is a short, if badly maintained, 2km road to Laganas. Walkers can use a coastal track and the walks takes about 30 minutes.
