TSILIVI is a fast growing resort on the north-east coast of Zante, about 6km from Zakynthos Town and 9km from the airport. Not long ago it was a quiet seaside village but UK tour companies have moved in with some force.
Tsilivi has a 2km long, sandy beach backed by olive and citrus groves, with shallow water that makes it an ideal resort for families with children.
Tsilivi is no Laganas but it is still packed with restaurants and bars and the beach can get very busy in the main summer months of July and August. Visitors need to get there early to bag the best beach spots.
Bars and nightclubs make Tsilivi one of Zante's top resorts for nightlife, outside Laganas, and all-night beach parties are a regular weekly event. Beach hawkers patrol the sand selling cheap watches, DVDs and other tat.
Bars range from local Greek to Brit karaoke and a couple of all-night disco clubs are found towards the busier western end of the main street. A McDonald's, a bowling alley, chip shop and crazy golf give some idea of the standard here.
The resort's popularity has brought problems with moped riding bag-snatchers not uncommon. Greek flavour can be hard to come by in the tavernas and bars which now boast names like 'Popeye' and 'Fawlty Towers' while full English breakfast is on sale virtually everywhere.
A wide variety of shops line the main road behind the beach, from up-market jewellers to tatty souvenir stalls. Craft workshops and local shops tend to lie off the main drag.
